Delta Air Lines Boeing 717 Lands In Charlotte Without Nose Landing Gear

Delta Air Lines flight DL1092 between Atlanta Hartfield Jackson International Airport (ATL) and Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) landed without the front landing gear at 08:58 this morning. Onboard the plane, there were 101 people, including 96 customers, two pilots, and three flight attendants. No injuries were reported due to the incident.
What happened?
The incident took place on June 28, 2023. Delta Air Lines deployed a Boeing 717 aircraft registration N955AT to operate flight DL1092 between Atlanta and Charlotte. The plane departed from Atlanta at 7:25 local time and stopped safely on Charlotte runway at 8:58.Upon landing, the plane suffered a malfunction on its front landing gear. Delta’s crew had to land the aircraft without the landing gear. The airline said in a statement sent to Simple Flying,“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people. While this is a rare occurrence, Delta flight crews train extensively to safely manage through many scenarios, and flight 1092 landed safely without reported injuries. We apologize to our customers for their experience.”Customers and crew deplaned using a slide and were taken to the terminal on a bus. Delta reported works are underway to remove the plane from Charlotte’s runway safely. FlightAware says 138 departing and 98 incoming flights have been delayed in Charlotte today. No injuries were reported among the 101 people onboard. At least one passenger took a video of the plane landing while the people onboard were in the brace position.
