These Workers’ Cultural Palaces were built for factories and were supported by the factories. In return, palaces would have diverse activities like operas, dramas and movies during holidays for the workers. Many people in my age have memories of happy hours in the palace of their hometown (yes they were open to the public). But as the planned economy period has gone by, many of them were sold to the private or even just closed.
